April 14, 2017 — Shanghai, China

Event:       Pharma China Annual Forum 2017

Presentation:   China Commercial Excellence: Experiences From International Pharmas

China’s healthcare market continues to be an attractive one, growing at above GDP rates of 13% per annum, adding over US$300 billion by 2020. While the China market remains robust, pharmas are undoubtedly facing headwinds. Government regulations continue to change, causing uncertainties and often delays in product registration, downward pricing pressures, and market access hurdles. Competitors are moving up the value chain with highly competitive products that are alternatives to those from multinationals, and often can be more creative in their commercial approach.

One key aspect of maintaining both top-line and bottom-line growth in the face of these headwinds is a focus on operational streamlining. By improving both sales productivity and operational effectiveness, more of the company’s energy can be directed externally to the market and enhance China’s overall performance. Helen Chen from L.E.K. Consulting will present an overview of the opportunities and challenges facing pharmas in today’s environment, including how business leaders are approaching their China operations and the initiatives they are taking to ensure sustainable growth in this second largest global market.
