L.E.K. Consulting Adds Koya Tsukiji as Partner in Life Sciences Practice

TOKYO — May 12, 2026 — Global strategy consulting firm L.E.K. Consulting today announced that Koya Tsukiji has joined the firm as a Partner in its Life Sciences practice. Based in Tokyo, Koya brings deep experience advising pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare organizations, as well as private equity firms, on strategy, digital innovation and M&A-driven transformation—further strengthening L.E.K.’s capabilities in Japan and across the Asia-Pacific region.

Koya joins L.E.K. from another global consulting firm, where he served as Managing Partner in the healthcare and life sciences practices. In this role, he led large-scale transformation programs for leading Japanese organizations, including multi-year digital and AI-driven initiatives spanning healthcare and advanced technologies. His work has included designing and implementing data platforms, developing AI-enabled business strategies and leading enterprise-wide transformation efforts, with direct responsibility for multimillion-dollar programs and client impact.

“We are delighted to welcome Koya to L.E.K.,” said Stephen Sunderland, Partner and Head of the firm’s Asia-Pacific practice. “He brings a strong combination of strategic insight and hands-on transformation leadership, particularly at the intersection of life sciences, digital innovation and M&A-driven transformation. His experience in AI-driven transformation, global operating model design and complex program delivery will further enhance our ability to support clients navigating rapid change in the healthcare and life sciences sector.”

Prior to consulting, Koya held senior roles in industry, advising global pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and private equity firms on organizational transformation, R&D operating models and commercial strategy. He has led cross-border engagements and post-merger integration efforts, as well as commercial and medical transformations, often working across Japan, the U.S. and other international markets. Earlier in his career, he worked in global strategic consulting, investment banking and corporate development, supporting M&A transactions in healthcare and technology, and he began his career in the medical device sector.

“Life sciences companies are navigating increasing complexity across science, technology and global operations, while also facing pressure to improve productivity and speed to market,” said Koya. “L.E.K.’s strong heritage in life sciences strategy, combined with its growing capabilities in transformation and execution, creates a powerful platform to help clients address these challenges. I look forward to working with the team to deliver meaningful impact for clients across Japan and globally.”
Koya holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering and Business Management from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo. He also studied at the University of California, Irvine as part of an exchange program.
