London – June 17, 2013 – Iain Evans, Chairman and Founder of L.E.K. Consulting, has been appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, for services to the Review of Defence Acquisition and the Consultancy Industry.
The appointment recognises the impact of Iain’s work in founding L.E.K. Consulting in London in 1983 and building it into a successful global business that today employs more than 1,000 people in 22 offices across Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific. L.E.K. provides strategic advice to some of the world’s largest companies and public sector bodies, and Iain has personally contributed to the success of some iconic British and overseas organisations. Throughout his career, Iain has completed more than 450 strategy projects for clients across all sectors of the economy.
Since 2008, Iain has worked closely with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), where he has led L.E.K.’s work in support of the government’s drive to secure better value for money in the identification, commissioning, procurement and whole-life delivery of major acquisition programmes.

Iain graduated from Bristol University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics (with honours), and subsequently earned a Master’s of Business Administration (with high distinction) from Harvard Business School, where he was also awarded a Baker Scholarship and Loeb Rhoades Fellowship in Finance. Iain formed what is now L.E.K. Consulting with a vision of creating a global business that would become a genuine force in its market by helping clients achieve exceptional results through the application of rigorous research to drive strategic insights and innovative new business models.
