Stephen Matthews is a Managing Director in L.E.K Consulting’s Los Angeles office and a senior leader in the firm’s Technology, Media, and Telecoms (TMT) sector. He leads L.E.K.’s Front Office Software and Services practice – spanning AdTech, MarTech, and SalesTech – as well as the firm’s Media & Entertainment (M&E) practice - covering film and television, streaming, site-based entertainment, and media business & technology services. 

Stephen’s Front Office Software and Services expertise spans both B2B and B2C markets. His work includes engagements with advertising/marketing agencies as well as software solutions across the advertising, marketing and sales technology stack, including: demand and supply-side platforms (DSPs/SSPs), marketing automation platforms, ecommerce platforms, digital experience platforms (DXPs), influencer & affiliate marketing, personalization engines, sales enablement tools, lead generation platforms, digital asset management (DAM), account based marketing (ABM), customer relationship management (CRM), and customer data platforms (CDP). 

In the Media & Entertainment sector, Stephen supports clients across the entire value chain, from film and TV production to streaming, gaming, digital content, and live entertainment. His focus includes market positioning, business model innovation, audience development, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) strategy, with an emphasis on leveraging emerging technologies to meet evolving consumer behaviors and media consumption trends.

Stephen joined L.E.K.’s London office in 2007 before relocating to Los Angeles in 2014. In addition to his consulting experience, he has conducted externships with Warner Bros. Entertainment and the British Government, gaining unique insights into both the private and public sectors.

He holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford.
