- Video / Webinar
Cost pressures. Labor dynamics. New market entrants. Hospitals and health systems are experiencing an ever-changing business environment. Discover how L.E.K. can help health systems build a strategy that drives sustainability and success over the long term.
(bright music) - Providers absolutely are under a lot of challenges: cost pressure, labor dynamics, labor shortages. And, you know, one of the areas that we help clients with most frequently is new entrants, new types of competitors within their market, within their local footprint and ecosystem. So the question about how to respond to that, adjust strategy in order to deal with a changing environment around them, that's one that has a lot of different manifestations and that is often an element of the client work that we do.
- We saw hospitals and health systems struggle financially over the last two, three years. Many reporting very steep losses, having to dip into their cash reserves on their balance sheet to fund their operations.
- There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to strategy work. So the work we do is quite bespoke and custom to what the client is facing. And every market is unique, so it's really kind of first and foremost understanding the need and then tailoring the solution to that. Is it about a value-based care sort of activation?
Is it about partnerships? Is it about service line growth? So there's a variety of kind of service line and beyond areas that we touch on, but it's really about ensuring kind of growth for the organization and driving long-term sustainability and success.
- The ability to bring those capabilities to bear for provider organizations under the umbrella of an understanding of their business and their industry specifically, I think is what truly differentiates us and allows us to help provider organizations with a challenge that we constantly hear, which is "how can we bring insights from outside of our business silo? How can we bring new thinking? How can we steal good ideas from other industries that we know are doing great?"
- This is a really important part of our economy. It's a really important part of our lives. There is a lot that could, and should, be better with the U.S. healthcare system, but with the diligent work of our clients, of us, of organizations like us, and our clients, I think there's hope that we can build a better U.S. healthcare system.
