Event: Australian Intelligent Transport Systems Summit 2018

Topic: Accelerating Electrification: Critical Steps to Speed Up Electric Vehicle Adoption

Activity around electric vehicles (EVs) has escalated in recent years, with a growing number of governments seeking to encourage their adoption (e.g., Norway intends to ban the sale of new internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles from 2020; Britain and France intend to do likewise by 2040) and global vehicle manufacturers announcing investments in EVs, with some analysts estimating that over $90 billion will be invested in EV technologies in the near term. Monica Ryu, a Partner at L.E.K. Consulting, will explore the main drivers of early adoption of battery EVs using an evidence-based approach. She will also examine implications for policymakers and vehicle manufacturers, and outline which activities and policies are most likely to be effective at encouraging greater EV adoption.
