A global provider of equipment and engineering services to companies in the oil and gas, renewables, and industrials sectors was seeking external investment, and engaged L.E.K. Consulting to produce a vendor due diligence report.
Approach and recommendations
We provided an overview of the global offshore oil and gas, offshore wind, and industrial markets, and for the client’s various products and services, we determined the size and growth of the global OEM, maintenance and rental markets by region and service type. In addition, we conducted an extensive customer interview program to identify market trends and key purchasing criteria, measure the level of customer satisfaction, and evaluate the competitive environment. We also assessed the feasibility of the company’s three-year business plan projections.
Results
Our in-depth assessment confirmed that the growth prospects for both the company and the overall market were favourable. Our analysis also provided insight into the company’s perceived strong brand and reputation and identified areas for improvement and additional growth opportunities. The detailed report facilitated the sale process, which ultimately resulted in investment by a leading private equity firm.
