In our Special Report Private Schools for Public Goods, L.E.K. Consulting and Jacobs Foundation highlight the key challenges in global K-12 education and the role of the private sector in tackling these problems. First and foremost, inadequate access to education is a critical challenge along with poor quality education in some areas and a lack of accountability.
At the same time, there has been a shift toward private schooling. This sector’s growing importance in the education landscape raises the question of its potential to address the aforementioned challenges and contribute to society at large. In fact, private schools are currently contributing to public education through innovation, teacher training, curriculum, pedagogy, increasing access and accountability, and more.
