Q: When did you start at L.E.K. Consulting, and at what position?
A: I started at L.E.K. in July 2019 as a Consultant after earning my MBA from Fuqua. I’m now an Engagement Manager in our Consumer practice.
Q: What led you to L.E.K.?
A: I was on a Strategy Team at Morgan Stanley before business school. I enjoyed the type of work I was doing but wanted exposure to a broader range of industries and challenges. L.E.K. stood out to me for many reasons, most notably the focus on strategy, shorter-duration cases, and the opportunity to manage a team from day one.
Q: How would you describe a typical day in your job?
A: This is a hard question — you wear many different hats as a Consultant at L.E.K.! Consultants are the senior-most 100% dedicated resource on a case team, and your primary responsibility is setting the Associates up for success (e.g., structuring complex strategic and analytical problems, preparing interview guides, designing research approaches, directing slide creation and providing comments, etc.). Then you consolidate the great work our Associates deliver into a cohesive and impactful set of materials to address your client’s key questions.
Q: What about an atypical day?
A: Logging off for the day and feel like you haven’t learned something new would definitely be a atypical!
Q: What are your favorite parts about being a Consultant at L.E.K.?
A: You get to flex so many different strategic thinking muscles each day, from taking a 10,000-foot view to develop a work plan all the way down into the weeds of complex analytical analysis. And you get to do this while being surrounded by incredibly talented and motivated colleagues.
Q: What has been your favorite case so far?
A: A fitness brand was launching a mobile application in response to COVID and brought L.E.K. in to understand what mattered most to their target consumers and how to market and price its offering. It was an exciting case because the industry had just been turned on its head by COVID, and it’s been rewarding to see the app go live with our recommendations in place. I was also an athlete in college and used the client’s equipment almost daily, so it was fun to engage with the brand in a slightly different way!
