I applied for the L.E.K. Summer Associate program in my penultimate year of my Science degree at Melbourne University as I felt this was the best way to find out if consulting was the right career choice for me straight out of university.  After two successful rounds of interviews, I was offered one of four internships to join the L.E.K. team over my summer break. I was allocated to cases right from day one (after a week of training) working in various teams with a diverse group of intelligent, like-minded and friendly people.

L.E.K. offered a  formal buddy and career coach program which supported me throughout the two months, and an open forum to chat about what I wanted from the experience. In the end, there were two main reasons I quickly realized that L.E.K. was the place for me: very few other professions will expose you to such a vast range of industries, projects and experiences. I actually enjoyed going to work every day, surrounded by talented colleagues. L.E.K. places importance on providing feedback for everyone on each case team, so at the end of my internship I met with my career coach and a Partner for a summary review of my cases during the two months. It was at this point that I was offered an Associate position (post-graduation) to start in February 2016, which I eagerly accepted!

If you are in your penultimate year of undergraduate education and considering the next move in your path after university, I encourage you to submit an application for the Summer Associate internship in the Melbourne or Sydney offices.
