Associate recruitment for L.E.K. Australia is in full swing. Applications will be accepted until Sunday March 6, 2016 at 11:55 p.m. First round interviews will commence the week of March 14th, and final round interviews will commence the week of March 21st.

To promote recruitment, I've asked my colleague Allina, an associate in Melbourne, a few questions about her first year at L.E.K. Consulting.

Where did you go to study?

I received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) at Monash University.

What have you enjoyed most about your first year at L.E.K.?

I've truly enjoyed exposure to so many new learning opportunities--most notably the exposure to many different industries (five thus far in my first year!). Making new friends and being part of a fun and challenging working environment, and then the unexpected opportunities, including my short transfer to the London office, are top of my list for my first year.

Can you provide us with some insight into a recent case you have worked on?

I was involved in a ten-week strategy review for a client in the financial services industry. My role was to analyze client data and research and examine trends in the industry in Australia as well as globally, in order to obtain insights into the strategic environment. I was able to observe the different relationships between key stakeholders. Seeing how our findings impacted the client's decisions was a real highlight.

What skills have you developed during your first year at L.E.K.?

My problem solving/ critical thinking skills and my teamwork skills have developed significantly over the course of the year.

What are you looking forward to as a 2nd year Associate?

Getting into some more in depth analysis and mentoring the new associates, with some unexpected opportunities arising along the way!

What advice would you give a final year student applying to L.E.K.?

Talk to people at L.E.K.--at campus events and in the consulting industry to get a better understanding of what the role entails, and practice practice practice for case interviews.
