Boosting Singapore’s position as a vibrant life sciences hub and epicentre of innovation for Asia Pacific

Singapore, 31 October 2018L.E.K. Consulting (“L.E.K.”), a global management consulting firm, today announced the launch of Asia Pacific’s (“APAC”) first Life Sciences Centre of Excellence. In partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board (“EDB”), the L.E.K. APAC Life Sciences Centre of Excellence (“CoE”) will drive thought leadership and innovation to elevate the life sciences ecosystem in Singapore and the region.

Based in Singapore, the new CoE will help shape business strategies and public policies through a first-of-its-kind platform that will provide deep insights into the APAC life sciences industry — ultimately maximising the value of a dynamic global healthcare market. Market insights will include best practices from other markets, drawing upon L.E.K.’s core capabilities of research, benchmarking, modelling, analysis and strategy development.

“A rapidly-evolving healthcare environment, breakthrough scientific innovation, digital advancements, increasing global access and new business models are reshaping the life sciences space,” says Fabio La Mola, Partner, at L.E.K. Consulting. “These trends are forcing the life sciences industry to rethink their strategies. Through this new Centre of Excellence, L.E.K. is committed to helping the life sciences industry navigate these challenges, as well as the fast-growing yet diverse APAC landscape, successfully.”

L.E.K. will leverage its global expertise in the life sciences industry to develop and codify knowledge on the life sciences industry within APAC. The CoE team will compile, synthesise, distil, and disseminate knowledge and insights on current and future issues specific to the life sciences industry, and include a wide range of scientific disciplines such as epidemiology, biology, technology, digital, and genetics to enhance strategic solutions and positions.

“L.E.K.’s decision to establish its first APAC Centre of Excellence in Singapore reflects the growing regional demand for specialized advice for key growth sectors such as life sciences.” said Mr. Clarence Chua, Director, Hub Services, Singapore Economic Development Board. “The centre will be a valuable addition to our business-research ecosystem, and is an example of how global professional services firms can tap onto Singapore’s industry expertise and talent base as they grow their capabilities.”

The CoE will operate under the guidance of an external board of advisors consisting of leaders and veterans in the industry, academia, and the government appointed by L.E.K.. The distinguished panel of advisors includes:

The CoE will also leverage Singapore’s strong research ecosystem for the co-development of intellectual property, in collaboration with local partners such as universities and industry associations.
