Working alongside senior and junior members of the case team, these new recruits apply their unique skills and experiences to projects while receiving intense training in strategic business consulting. They eventually take on responsibility for leading modules of project work and for driving analytical insights.

The Role of the Life Sciences Specialist (LSS)

L.E.K. Consulting offices in the United States offer the unique position of Life Sciences Specialist to those with PhDs or MDs. Bridging the gap between Associate and Consultant, Life Sciences Specialists are responsible for leading modules of project work and driving analytical insights. L.E.K. Life Sciences Specialists also develop cutting-edge strategic and managerial skills that provide a strong foundation for future career opportunities.

Life Sciences Specialists work alongside the senior members of the case team to help define initial hypotheses, direct and control the quality of the team’s research and analytical work, and produce fact-based and analytically robust conclusions. They often gain significant, high-profile client exposure through valuation analysis, business planning and support opportunities.

Life Sciences Specialist responsibilities include:

• Conducting primary research on markets, competitors and customers.
• Performing rigorous strategic and financial analysis to pinpoint appropriate, practical recommendations to clients.
• Collaborating with team members to derive trends, conclusions and recommendations based on the data and analysis.
• Transforming information into thoughtful insights regarding the client’s strategic direction.
• Making L.E.K. an enjoyable and rewarding place to work by coaching colleagues and transferring skills, offering constructive advice and contributing to a positive social climate in the office.
