Why L.E.K.?
I chose L.E.K. Consulting because of the people. Sure I chose consulting in general because of the variety of work and exposure to complex problems and senior management. But when it came time to choose a specific firm, it was the people at L.E.K. who I was most impressed with and with whom I felt instantly at ease. At the time I was also particularly interested in L.E.K.’s strong life sciences practice and the opportunity offered by the swap and secondment programs.
My Role
As a Consultant I am responsible for the day-to-day running of a project. This is essentially a project management type role with ultimate responsibility for ensuring delivery against agreed milestones. As a result, the role involves frequent and regular interaction with the client as well as L.E.K. internally – from analyst through to partner.
Professional Development
I have been fortunate to have enjoyed a number of excellent professional development opportunities while at L.E.K. Once a month we have a Back To The Office Day which involves a full day of training, as well as an update on the state of the business and guest speakers. I have also been fortunate enough to enjoy a six-month swap to our Boston office, during which time I got to experience working in a much larger office for a different range of clients (not to mention the sightseeing opportunities!). I also learned a lot during a five- month secondment to the Strategy and Delivery Division of the Department of Prime Minster and Cabinet in Canberra. All these experiences are against a backdrop of a supportive team environment with extensive on-the-job training.
