The demands of an exciting and rewarding consulting career can be difficult to balance with life outside work, particularly with a family. Therefore, as a firm we make it a priority to provide a work environment in which working mothers and fathers can thrive.
To that end, L.E.K. has devised a global policy that focuses on accommodating the needs of primary child carers with a flexible working environment and assistance in finding suitable child care options.
Given the vast regional differences in infrastructural, regulatory and cultural pre-conditions, a range of policies were developed to address the specific local needs. However, our global policy combines a number of benefits to ensure work environment flexibility and access to child care as prerequisites for the success of a family-friendly policy across the firm worldwide. Therefore local policies typically include:
- Flexible and part-time working options
- Tele-commuting (including assistance in setting up home offices)
- Assistance in finding and paying for emergency child care in work situations where the usual child care arrangements are not available (through specific providers selected by the local offices)
- Assistance in finding high quality child day care
- Experience sharing through HR and local role models
Our goal is to offer options for our staff to choose from and be as flexible as possible in accommodating specific local needs. This will help finding individual solutions which truly enable our talent to realize their best potential both in their career and at home. Examples of successful role models include two Partners that achieved their recent promotion while they were on a part-time schedule to take care of their children.
