Boston, MA – February 29, 2012 – Growth is returning to the residential building and construction market for the first time since the recession. L.E.K. Consulting’s second annual Contractor Behavior Survey for the building and construction industry projects a 7% increase in revenue per residential job within the next three years, compared with a 3% decline expected in last year’s survey. L.E.K. Consulting surveyed more than 500 contractors across the United States to examine their purchasing priorities, preferences and strategies for the future.
Boston, MA – February 27, 2012 – Hospital budgets are on the upswing but cost pressures and changing healthcare models are dictating how hospital leaders are determining their strategic priorities. Sixty-one percent of U.S. hospital executives expect budget increases in 2012, a trend that is expected to continue during the next five years, according to the L.E.K. Consulting Strategic Hospital Priorities Study. L.E.K.’s third annual study of nearly 200 senior hospital decision-makers tracks changes in hospital strategies and purchasing trends.

Boston, MA – August 17, 2011 – Retailers and brands will need to shift their sales and marketing strategies to respond to the growing influence of mobile devices on consumer behavior, according to the new L.E.K. Consulting Mobile Commerce Survey. Broadly, two-thirds of smart phone or tablet owners today have used their devices to make purchases and more than 80% have used them to assist in purchasing decisions through product research at least once during the past year.

Boston, MA – June 20, 2011 – A key U.S. healthcare insurance reform goal is to shift care from the current fee-for-service (FFS) model, which revolves around individual treatments and payments, to a more holistic approach to care. As proposed in the Accountable Care Act (ACA), this will require the federal government to expand coverage to more Americans, while dramatically reducing cost to make healthcare reform economically viable. L.E.K. Consulting’s research shows that the primary changes stemming from reform and the subsequent shift in the payer mix (i.e., more government, less commercial) will likely cause the majority of hospitals to operate at an annual net loss unless these institutions begin pursuing major strategic changes now.

The report was commissioned from Bernard Gray by the previous Secretary of State for Defense, John Hutton, with a remit to assess what steps the department was making to reform its procurement process and to suggest further recommendations for how it can be improved.

Shanghai, China – March 26, 2009 – Global strategy consulting firm L.E.K. Consulting announced today the findings of a survey of a cross-section of Chinese consumers. As expected, consumer confidence is low, and as of January 2009 has matched the nadirs reached during the Asian Financial Crisis and SARS. Furthermore, based on the research, this downturn has materially impact consumers’ incomes. More than one-third of consumers surveyed reported decreases in family income. Not surprisingly, the impact was most strongly felt in the survey city of Zhongshan, in the heart of China’s export base.
